The Harvest is plentiful but the workers are few

Do you ever feel overwhelmed? I think we all do at some point whether its finals with school, or projects from work, or the a major decision about relationship. Sometimes these feeling can paralyze us or make us feel inadequate. Today this very feeling rocked me to the core and frustrated me to no end. I was at Cornerstone Fellowship today and I ran into some student who were not attending the church service or the high school service and asked them why and they really didn’t give me a reason and they were okay with that. I am began talking with one my mentors and told him about the situation. He said, “Wes, you can’t do everything.”

I know he was right and then I was reminded of this story, in the book of Matthew. Jesus had just finished healing a blind and mute man. He than began to teach in the synagogues and he looked out to the crowd. The bible said he had compassion on them for they were like sheep without a shepherd. He then told his disciples the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few, so pray that the Lord will send workers.

I am so reminded that I am not in control of what people do and that I am in inadequate because I am human.  However I have an opportunity every day to minister to people and be a light. I have an opportunity to talk to people about joining ministry. Most importantly I get a chance to prayer to God and tell him that we need more workers. The ironic thing is He already knows. However we need to grow in faith and we need to pray to him. For this generation needs to be reach, nay all generations need to be reach for the gospel. I know I can’t do it all by myself but I think if I pray, I know the Lord will bring people, so if your reading this and your not plugged in the church, please ask God where he wants you because harvest is plentiful and the workers are few.
